About

I am a keen advocate of balanced leadership and teams and a strong supporter of mentoring for growth, insight, awareness and focused development both personally and professionally. Having, voluntarily, jumped off the corporate bandwagon for 6 months, I have reflected upon the future for the aviation and logistics industry whilst building a diverse and exciting future in consultancy in the industry. With my business partner, who has 30yrs+ finance and audit experience, together we provide strategic and operational risk and compliance support alongside the project delivery of quality and operational improvements projects. One such role is currently working with the board and team for the digital innovators CharterSync.

I have enjoyed 25 years specialising in industry lead roles in global corporate communications, governance, risk and compliance. I managed the global compliance function for the global air charter broker Chapman Freeborn Group of Companies for ten years and latterly, as Head of Risk, establishing commercial compliance within air chartering. Additionally, well versed in supporting humanitarian aid specialist air transport teams on compliance matters, managing core banking relationships for global aid into sanctioned regions and advising on export trade controls for controlled items and on unique licensing requirements for peacekeeping operations. I build relationships with teams, love aviation and whilst I have worked in other interesting sectors, logistics is where I have always felt most at home and where I feel I can best support the future picture in terms of sustainability, equality, digitalisation and training and communication. I am a comfortable presenter and speaker and, whilst the last decade of my career has been focused on corporate governance, supporting global broking teams and on specialist humanitarian matters, I certainly would not label myself as a one trick pony.
My current and previous roles covered a broad base of skills which I am keen to share.
Additional profile: Formally, Head of Corporate Communications for a global, graphics plc. Preparation for mergers and acquisition and post-acquisition corporate integration across Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific Region.

NGO/3rd sector involvement – Multiple roles within a healthcare and research environment and as a lay representative on the board of the National Cancer Research Institute for 6 years. I established a small national charity securing government funding to provide education and guidance for the NHS on cancer related hair loss and receiving innovative small charity recognition by the then UK Prime Minister..

Core skill sets – strategic and operational compliance , ISO process management, preparation for growth capital, business mergers and acquisition, training, briefing, presenting and writing corporate of communications.

I thrive on engaging peers and would hope that those I have worked alongside would say that they too, have enjoyed working together. A firm believer in excellent communication and in people, I would love to help others and to be an advocate of best practice and innovative thinking.

I would love to help and to share experience for an even brighter future across aviation and logistics.
